What is this song mean?

My Way Home is Through You by My Chemical Romance

Lyrics:

Gonna take off all my skin,

Tear apart all of my insides,

When they rifle in,

Mom and Dad think you'll be saved,

They never had the time,

They're gonna medicate your lives,

You were always born a crime,

We salute you in your grave.

Can't find my way home,

But it's through you and I know,

What I'd do just to get back in her arms,

Can't find my way home,

But it's through you and I know,

What I'd do just to get back in her arms.

[Spoken in background]

(Well my gun fires

seven different shades of ****,

So what's your favorite color, punk?)

Do you wanna hold my hand?

Could you sign this photograph,

'Cause I'm your biggest fan,

Would you leave me lying here?

We're not here to pay a compliment,

Or sing about the government,

Oxycontin genocide,

Adolescent suicide,

I'll give you my sincerity,

{Don't give} a **** about a Kennedy,

Here's what I've got to say.

What is this song mean?
Everyone sees their songs as meaning something different, it just depends on how you personally hear it.

Check out this message board at one of their fan sites and you can see what other people make of it's meaning:

I personally think it's coming from the Patient's view.

Great song, wish it would have made it onto the album!

**MCR :] : I have never read anywhere that any of Gerard's girlfriends have ever committed suicide...he just broke up with his girlfriend of six years at the end of last year.
Reply:No problem!

Never heard about their friend before...that's really sad...you could always tell Cemetery Drive was a heartfelt song though. Report It

Reply:I think it could be from a fans point of view.

"Mom and Dad think you'll be saved,

I think that in a way could be related to some fans that might have committed suicide and they understand in some way what they went through and that their parents didn't really care that they were depressed and didn't really help or anything until it was too late.

Or something random popped into my head that it could be about Gerard's girlfriend that committed sucide [which Cemetery Drive was about].

Maybe?
Reply:who cares? the song rocks. period. =]
Reply:well i think it s from fan point of view, the way we may think about the band, what they mean to us(i think finding the way home refers to finding and knowing urself)we can see and find our very initial dreams by listening 2 the songs coz they r just like us,they r ordinary people and have the same problems in life, just like all of us and this makes their songs to be wonderful
Reply:It means you're emo and have poor grammar skills.
